The books are all hardback expect for one paperback. They are all automotive related; one is an encylopedia of the car, and all are still available through Amazon, with one of them regularly fetching upwards of $150, which amazes me as originally it sold for about $25, but there you are. Hope that helps...

In response to:Gone...

Obviously, I don't expect you to give up your web-anonymity, but at least the subject matter and formats, would be an interesting disclosure.

In response to:Gone...

Titles and subjects?
I still think it needs more structure, but the writing is enjoyable and entertaining. However, I'm glad I decided to take it in instalments. Reading more than one chapter at a time would have put me off.

I have a large number of my own anecdotes, much of the same type, but I see them more as a strata of material to mine for short story plots. You have treated it as if you are the camera and these are your snapshots.

Are your other books online?

In response to:Gone...

Well, I've always said it's a true story, so it's a memoir, an autobiography, certainly not a novel.

In response to:Gone...

I'm still trying to decide what it is you've written, it's certainly not a novel. I love all these anecdotes but where are the girls? You know, the women in your life. You've told us about cars and dogs you have loved but no mention of the female species apart from Linda whatsername thingy.
1. Perhaps a little short on continuity. Some of the chapters seem to be connected to the next merely by being next in line chronologically, and somehow I feel dissatisfied by that.

2. We're not learning much about you, the narrator, yet it is your chronology that links the anecdotal events. Female readers may well have deserted by now....

In response to:Gone...

Yes, in my experience porn, or prorn as you seem to pronounce it in your neck of the woods, usually gets things up and moving...

In response to:Gone...

Yes better, but it took a bit of prorn to do it... ;)

In response to:Gone...

Hmm... Sorry, but for me this part chapter seems a little weak so far. I know you'll say "Well, it's a true story," but it could be considered a little too obvious and not up to the "chuckle" standard of previous ones. Maybe you'll pull it out of the mire in the continuation.

In response to:Gone...

Oh, to compare me to Thomas! I like the idea of tramping up mountainsides and fording streams, running along a sea shore with the sun glinting off the water and cresting a hill on my mountain bike. But then I think, phew that would be very tiring indeed.
In response to:Gone...

Yes, I am often amused and irritated by the hypocrisy of men who are less than devastatingly attractive themselves who think it perfectly acceptable to criticise women because they fall short of some unnattainable standard of physical perfection. I once witnessed a midddle aged slob with a beer gut, wearing a pair of jeans that looked as if they had never seen the inside of a washing machine and a tatty plaid shirt with most of the buttons missing pass some extraordinarily critical remarks about a woman who may not have been the epitome of chic but who at least looked as if she had brushed her hair that day.

Oh and I agree with you about the fat thing although as one who is prone to putting on weight easily I do have some sympathy with those who genuinely struggle to keep the pounds off. I have finally found the way that suits me but it is not easy and there is so much conflicting advice around. Part of my problem in the weight department is that I loathe exercise. Even the mention of it causes my brain to glaze over with boredom and my heart to sink to the soles of my feet.

In response to:Gone...

Thanks, Rinny.
